Rethinking Sensor Technology: Delfa Systems and WACKER Present NEXIPAL® Sense at K 2025

Flexible Sensor and Silicone Technologies for Today’s Megatrends: Delfa Systems and WACKER Present Scalable, Stretchable Silicone Laminate Sensors Based on WACKER NEXIPAL® Sense for Digital Sensing
Pioneering EAP Technology for Digitalization, the Energy Transition, and Electromobility

Neunkirchen, October 2, 2025 – Whether in industry, vehicles, or everyday life, sensors are the key technology for smart applications. With NEXIPAL® Sense, Wacker Chemie AG (WACKER) and its system partner Delfa Systems GmbH (DELFA) are now opening up entirely new possibilities: these highly flexible laminate sensors, based on electroactive polymers (EAP), offer a wide range of design options for diverse applications.

At K 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, DELFA will be showcasing its developments for the first time at the WACKER booth. Visitors to Hall 6, Booth A10, will not only discover the latest NEXIPAL® Sense sensors but will also be able to explore the world of digitalization in an interactive way. Practical demonstrators will show how this technology can shape the future of mobility, industry, and beyond.

“Together with WACKER, we share the conviction that the next generation of sensor technology must be soft, stretchable, and seamlessly integrable. NEXIPAL® Sense is the foundation for pioneering EAP sensor technology at an industrial scale. Together, we are accelerating the path from small series and niche applications to industrial mass markets,” says Dr. Philipp Linnebach, CEO of Delfa Systems GmbH.

“Building on our many years of material and process expertise, we have developed the multilayer laminates NEXIPAL® Sense on an industrial scale. With DELFA’s know-how in sensor design, electronics, and manufacturing, we are jointly closing the gap for numerous applications. The result is scalable digital sensing that enables new design freedom – from smart textiles to assistive robotics,” adds Dr. Johannes Neuwirth, Senior Business Development Manager at WACKER.

Stretchable Sensing – Precise Signals, New Form Factors

NEXIPAL® Sense is a stretchable silicone laminate with embedded, printed flexible electrodes, functioning as a stretchable capacitor. Pressure, tension, or bending movements measurably change its capacitance, delivering precise sensor signals even on complex, moving surfaces. Thanks to its thinness, flexibility, and low weight, the laminate can be seamlessly integrated into products and structures.

About WACKER

WACKER is a globally active chemical company with a broad portfolio of silicone and polymer solutions and production sites in all major economic regions. With ELASTOSIL® Film and the NEXIPAL® brand, WACKER offers electroactive silicone laminates for actuators and sensors.

EAP Sensing for Robotics and Smart Industry | Delfa Systems at automatica 2025

Soft sensor solutions based on electroactive polymers (EAPs) have been showcased at the Startup Arena at automatica. Here is a recap with demos, key takeaways, and insights into the future of robotic and industrial sensing.

Sensing, Conversations and Visions of the Future.

Four inspiring days in Munich are behind us. Our participation in automatica 2025 as part of the Startup Arena was a resounding success, both technically and personally.

At the heart of it all was our soft sensing technology based on electroactive polymers (EAP). We presented our solutions in an environment shaped by innovation, automation and pressing questions about the future:
How will motion, touch, force and strain be measured in tomorrow’s robotics?
What will tactile sensing look like in flexible, adaptive production environments?
The response was clear: interest in alternative, flexible sensor technologies is growing steadily.
We engaged in numerous conversations with developers, system integrators, and innovation teams about real-world challenges.
How can touch, pressure or strain be reliably and compactly measured, especially in places where conventional industrial sensor technology falls short?
Our answer: ultrathin, highly sensitive EAP sensors, which we demonstrated live at the fair and which met with genuine curiosity and excitement. Visitors were particularly impressed by the sensitivity and robustness of our soft materials.
A special highlight was the first major trade show appearance of our new colleague, Justin Lambert, who made a strong impression and immediately strengthened our team.
We’re heading home with new contacts and project ideas, and a strong sense that our technology is exactly where it needs to be:
automatica 2026? Definitely!

Recap: AI, Sensor Technology & Innovation – The Network Event at Delfa Systems

On 12 June 2025, the time came:

Alongside BVMW Rheinland-Pfalz & Saarland, we at Delfa Systems in Neunkirchen presented what is already possible for SMEs today with smart sensor technology, intelligent elastomers and practical AI.

Technology you can touch. Ideas that make an impact.

The evening began with an interactive keynote by Mario Janzen, the CEO and co-founder of Menter Digital. Under the motto ‘AI – but how?!’, he made one thing clear: SMEs don’t need visions. They need solutions. And that’s exactly what he delivered: no buzzwords, just practical strategies.

Next, we took our guests into the production hall, where they could see for themselves what intelligent materials and embedded sensors can achieve in real-world applications. From smart elastomers to real-time data analysis, everything was covered.

Conversations that stick.

Technology is only half the equation. Real impact comes from people. And they turned out in force: entrepreneurs, innovators and forward thinkers from across the region seized the opportunity to network. Over sausages, salad, drinks and in a relaxed atmosphere, new perspectives and concrete ideas for collaboration emerged.

A short video with a clear message:

Technology inspires when it’s tangible.
And that’s exactly what happened that evening.
